On wednesday, May 9 and Thursday, May 10, 2019 in the Church of San Maurizio al Monastero Maggiore in Milan, Intende Voci Ensemble presents the complete version of Il Secondo libro de’ Madrigali a cinque voci by Claudio Monteverdi along two evenings.
The concerts celebrate the anniversary of Claudio Monteverdi’s birth (1567-1643).
The project “Madrigali in San Maurizio” started in 2018 with the performance of the complete First Book and aims to perform, year after year, the opera omnia of Claudio Monteverdi’s madrigali and to bring to the general public the masterpieces of baroque polyphony by the founding father of the Italian Baroque Music.
The performance will be replicated in San Vittore prison during June as part of the initiative “Un’ora di luce” (“One hour of light”) that involves volunteer musicians in bringing classical music to the guests of the structure.
