The First Book of “Madrigali a 5 voci” by C. Monteverdi and “Requiem” by I. Pizzetti

On May 9, 2018, in the wonderful setting of the Church of San Maurizio al Monastero Maggiore (Milan), on the very day of the Claudio Monteverdi’s birthday (1567-1643), Intende Voci Ensemble presents the complete version of his “Il primo libro di Madrigali a cinque voci”.

Then, a masterpiece of 20th century music: the Messa di Requiem for mixed voices a cappella by Ildebrando Pizzetti.
Completed in 1922 and meant to be performed only by a cappella voices, it is the first of his great choral compositions and is part of the Gregorian tradition adopted by the composer. The writing varies from four to twelve voices.
