Once again in 2024 Associazione Liederìadi ETS with its vocal realities Intende Voci promotes the second edition of the festival Musica in Canonica at the San Giorgio di Bernate Ticino complex, a cultural and musical project aimed at the local communities of Bernate Ticino and the neighbouring territories close Milan.
The festival takes place thanks to the contribution of the Ticino Olona Foundation, with the patronage of the Bernate Ticino Municipality and the collaboration of the Parish of San Giorgio Martire, the Bernate Ticino Rectory Foundation, and the participation of the Calavas Association.
The first concert (2 March 2024) anticipates Easter. In the Church of San Giorgio, soprano Cinzia Prampolini, mezzo-soprano Ilaria Molinari, Intende Voci Chorus and the Canova Chamber Orchestra performed G.B. Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater for soloists and orchestra and T. Traetta’s Stabat Mater for soloists, orchestra and choir.
The second concert (Sunday 25 May at 9 p.m.) was in the Cloister of the Church of San Giorgio Martire with I Madrigalisti di Intende Voci, an ensemble of singers and instrumentalists specialised in the repertoire of Baroque madrigal music led by tenor and maestro concertatore Mirko Guadagnini.
The program was a selection from the Seven Books of Madrigal Collections by Claudio Monteverdi (1567-1643), the father of the Italian Baroque, which took the audience through the rivulets of affections, kisses, flames and dances that praise love, sometimes serene sometimes conflicted, but always a guiding feeling of the human soul. At the heart of Monteverdi’s madrigal music (and not only) is the word, with the verses of the Madrigals signed by such important poets of the 16th century as Giovan Battista Guarini, Torquato Tasso and Alessandro Striggio.
